DAILY CARE

Keep Your Skillet Performing Like New

With just a few simple habits, your VULCAN skillet will continue to improve with every meal and last for generations.

Let It Cool Slightly

Allow the skillet to cool for a few minutes before cleaning.
Never place a hot skillet under cold water.

Wash with Warm Water

Wash using warm water with a soft sponge or a stiff brush.
For stubborn food residue, use a chainmail scrubber if needed.

Dry Immediately

Dry the skillet thoroughly with a clean towel.
For best results, place it over low heat for 1–2 minutes to remove any remaining moisture.

Apply a Thin Layer of Oil

Apply a few drops of oil and spread a paper-thin layer over the cooking surface.
Wipe away any excess oil before storing.

Store Properly

Store your skillet in a dry place.
If stacking cookware, place a paper towel between each piece to absorb moisture and protect the seasoning.

RE-SEASONING

Bring Your Skillet Back to Life

Over time, heavy use or improper care may wear down the seasoning layer. Restoring it is simple and helps protect your skillet for years to come.

1. Clean Thoroughly

Wash the skillet with warm water and a stiff brush or chainmail scrubber to remove food residue, loose seasoning, or rust.
Dry completely before moving to the next step.

2. Heat to Remove Moisture

Place the skillet over low heat for 2–3 minutes to evaporate any remaining moisture.
A completely dry surface is essential for proper seasoning.

3. Apply a Paper-Thin Layer of Oil

Apply a very thin layer of high smoke-point oil over the entire skillet—inside, outside, and the handle.

Recommended oils: Grapeseed Oil, Canola Oil, Sunflower Oil, Flaxseed Oil

4. Wipe Away the Excess

Using a clean paper towel, wipe away as much oil as possible.
The skillet should look almost dry—not wet or glossy.
Thin layers create the strongest seasoning.

5. Bake Upside Down

Place the skillet upside down in a preheated oven at:
230°C (450°F)
Bake for 1 hour.
Place aluminum foil or a baking tray on the lower rack to catch any oil drips.

6. Cool Naturally

Turn off the oven and allow the skillet to cool completely inside.
For heavily worn skillets, repeat the process 2–3 times until a smooth, deep black finish is achieved.

💡 Good to Know

Every VULCAN skillet arrives professionally pre-seasoned and ready to cook.
Re-seasoning is only needed if the original seasoning has been damaged or after years of heavy use.
